About George Miller

George enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on August 20, 1972. After basic and Nuclear Weapons Specialist training, he reported to his first assignment at Grand Forks AFB, N.D., working on B-52 Aircraft. George served in the Air National Guard at Otis ANGB from 1974 to 1988 as a Munitions and Avionics Air Guard civilian technician on F-106 aircraft. He was the MA-1 Crew Chief of the Top Gun F106A in the 1980 William Tell Competition. George transferred to the USAF Reserve at Seymour Johnson AFB in February 1988 with a new unit, the 916th AREFG, operating KC-10A Aircraft. He was activated as a Specialist Flight Chief in 1989-90 for Desert Shield and Desert Storm and assigned to Zaragoza AFB, Spain, and Guam AFB. He retired honorably at the rank of MSgt in June 1995.

After his military career, George served as a Foreign Service Officer for Voice of America. He was assigned to Transmitting Stations in Thailand, Greece, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, and Botswana, retiring as Station Manager in 2011.

George and his wife Janet have two children and seven grandchildren.

George joined the American Legion Post 52 in 2022 and is honored to serve with fellow veterans and Auxiliary members.
