Our 2015 Girls State Participant

Tar Heel Girls State is a week long workshop in the legislative process sponsored by the North Carolina American Legion Auxiliary. North Carolina's program is the longest continuously-running Girls State program in the United States. For a week in June, approximately 300 of North Carolina's most promising rising high school senior girls from every part of the state come together to learn about and participate in various parts of government.

Every year Franklinton Post 52 looks forward to sponsoring one or more young ladies to represent our community by participating in the Tar Heel Girls' State Program. Our selection for the 2015 program was Teliza Henderson a rising senior from Franklinton High School. Teliza enjoyed an intense week in the program. After graduation, she return to our post for our July 28th Ladies Night meeting where she shared her experiences and thanked us for this opportunity.

She said she learned a lot and had a great time meeting all of the other girls that were also in the program.
