Commanders' Message

Commanders Photo As we come to the end of our election year and begin another, I want to thank all members that made this year a success. Every member and your support of the American Legion are what continue to make the American Legion the largest and most successful veteran’s organization in the world. I ask that you work with the new leadership coming on board and support them as you have supported the past leadership.

We had a great turn out of members for the Awards Banquet and Division Training workshop on March 9th and 23rd. The Post was full, and there were good food and fellowship. I want to thank all those members who came out to show your support to our First Responders and those who attended the training at Post 39 in Greenville. Once our new officers are sworn in and our committee chairs take office, there will be another Post training workshop.

I would be out of character if I did not mention membership. We have almost met our Department goal on membership. Membership is the very life of our Post and The American Legion. Thank you all for your continued support. We have some Members who have not renewed, and we are in the process of reaching out to them to check on them to see how they are doing. If you know a member, please reach out and see how they are doing.

Our new membership year is just around the corner. Please help the American Legion reduce waste by renewing your membership after you receive your first renewal notice.

There are several ways you can renew: 1) By Mail, 2) Go On-line to MyLegion, 3) Bring it to our July Meeting, and 4) Become a Paid Up For Life (PUFL) and forget it, “I did No More Notices.” Whichever option you choose, please consider renewing your membership in July.

Also, as a reminder, we have Veterans who own their businesses, and I would ask that you consider them when you need the services they provide. If you are a member of our Post and Own your own business, call me at 919-358-5591 with the details, and we would be glad to promote your business.

Vice-Commander's Report

Vice Commanders Photo April is here! And so are the post elections. I want to thank Commander Satterwhite for his leadership during the past year as well as his invaluable support as the Division 1 membership chair. Division 1 continues to be in first place leading the way for all others in the Department. As the new officers are elected and installed, I encourage all our members to get behind them and support all post programs. There will be new officer training held in May. We must continue our push on membership at the post as the year winds to a close so, if you know of someone who has not renewed or requires assistance in paying their dues, please let the post leadership know, they may be able to provide help. Please come out and support the upcoming fish & oyster fry fundraiser; your help and support are greatly appreciated.

For God & Country, Mike Donnelly
