About Mike Donnelly

Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 15, 1972, and upon completion of basic training, he reported to his first assignment at Fleet Support Office Athens, Greece. He then transferred to USS Forrestal CVA-59. Other duty stations include NSGA Winter Harbor, Maine; USS Holland AS-32; MCAS Cherry Point, NC; USS Hunley AS-31; NAVACTS Holy Loch Scotland; and Naval Station Charleston, SC. Mike retired honorably at the rank of SKC (Storekeeper Chief Petty Officer) E-7 on December 31, 1991.

Mike is married to his lovely wife Carolyn and makes their home in Bunn, NC.

In 2006, Mike joined The American Legion at Post 21 Rogersville, TN, and transferred to Post 52 Franklinton, NC, in 2012. Mike has served as Second Vice-Commander, First Vice Commander, and Commander of Post 52 and is currently on the Post Executive Board. In addition to Post duties, Mike has held District 5 Vice Commander (2015-16), District Commander(2016-18), Division 1 Commander/Department Vice Commander(2018-19) and Department Commander (2022-23). Mike has served as a member of the Department Internal Affairs Committee, the Department Executive Committee (DEC) (2015-19), Chairman of the Department Americanism Commission from 2019 - 2022, and served on the National Americanism Council and the National Americanism Commission from 2021 - To Present.
