About Pat McCrary:

Pat McCrary enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 23, 1966. Upon completing basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas, he completed Advanced Individual Training (AIT) as a Construction Machine Operator at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Following training, Pat was assigned to the 87th Combat Engineer Bn. in Cam Rhan Bay, Vietnam, until July 1967. Pat returned to Fort Lewis, Washington, attended NCO Academy, and was promoted to E-5. He returned to Phu Bai, Vietnam, in May 1968 and was assigned to the 27th Combat Engineer Bn. until honorably discharged on February 14, 1969.

Pat lived in Colorado for 21 years, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Colorado Department of Transportation. He moved to North Carolina with his wife and two sons in 1990 and now resides in Youngsville, NC.

He joined the American Legion Post 52 in 2016 and was named Legionnaire of the Year in 2022.
