Life-Saving Recognition for Legionnaire Eric Pearce of Franklinton, NC

As you may or may not know, on the afternoon of June 15, Legionnaire Eric Pearce came upon a motor vehicle collision on Green Hill Road while returning home. The accident must have just happened. Disregarding his safety, Eric immediately began checking the vehicle occupants' injuries when he noticed one victim with severe bleeding. Eric applied direct pressure to the victim's femoral artery and, consoled the victim and reassured her that he was with her and that everything would be okay. When paramedics arrived, they took over treatment and called in life flight transport.

While Franklin County EMS could not go into the specific outcome of the incident, they say that Eric's actions helped save the life of the victim at the scene. His courage and quick thinking undoubtedly went a long way to stabilize the victim and gave her a chance to be flown to a hospital.

Eric Pearce is a Marine. Eric served in combat in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Eric is the 2nd Vice Commander at The American Legion Post 52 in Franklinton.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, at the meeting of the Franklin County Commissioners, Eric received recognition for his actions from both the Commissioners and the Franklinton American Legion Post 52.
